Christians for Trump

So many good liberals express amazement that good Christian “conservatives” are in the tank for Donald Trump. The liberals are shocked, SHOCKED that any good Christian could support a man who has been married three times, lies through his teeth incessantly, and has expressed a desire to have sex with his own daughter. How could they?

The Bible says.

This is pointless. To understand Christian conservatives, to understand Christianity at all, the last place to look is the Bible. Certainly, conservatives in particular claim to be great fans of acting on principle. But again, actions speak louder than words. Show me a conservative, or a “conservative” acting on principle, without regard for consequences, when it is very difficult or costly to do so. I’ll wait….

In the meantime, of course Christian “conservatives” are in the tank for the Donald. The correspondence is not exact, but as we have explained repeatedly, Trump’s success in the Republican primary is the result of decades of Republican leaders lying to their loyal followers about what is politically possible in the United States, comforting them that they can continue believing in white supremacy, disparaging all black people as lazy moochers who have and feed their babies at the expense of good, hard working, white people. Richard Nixon ran for the “silent majority.” Ronald Reagan denounced “welfare queens.” George I used Willie Horton to win election. George II never really won, and in 2004 had the psychologically gratifying substitute of LGBT people to pick on. Newt Gingrich coined the term, “food stamp President.” Rick Santorum said he did not want to make black people happy by giving them other people’s money. Good Christian “conservatives” all.

Then, in 2008, the unthinkable happened. Not only did a Democrat win, but he was black! How could that be? This is the United States of America. We don’t let black people move into the White House.

The Republican leadership promised not to let it happen again.

But he won a second term anyway. Democrats elect black people as President, and the leadership of the Republican Party can’t stop them, so we need an outsider. Someone with no known ties to the Republican Party.

We need the Donald! He’ll build a wall to keep the Mexicans out. He’ll prohibit all Muslims from entering the country. He’ll encourage his followers to beat up black people and protesters at his rallies. He will save us!

Again, there are a few Christian “conservatives” who do not like the Donald, and there are quite a few Donald supporters who are not overtly Christian, but there is absolutely nothing in the Christian “conservative” worldview that would in any way preclude anyone from supporting Trump for President.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for President Trump

Again, do not bother whipping out your Bible. It is not relevant. “Conservatives” have their own understanding of it – remember, a dude just opened a Noah’s Ark theme park with dinosaurs on his ark – and, that I can see, the Bible has never stopped a single human from doing whatever horrible thing s/he had taken a mind to do. The Bible is useless as moral constraint. If anything, it has exactly the opposite effect because the people who wave it around the most can claim the imprimatur of Jesus for whatever atrocity they plan to commit. Slavery? The Bible says I can. Oppress women? The Bible says I can. Molest children? The Bible says I can. Kill off all Jews? The Bible says I should.

Stop with the Bible.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for President Trump

Look at how these people actually behave. Since Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492, Christians, mostly zealous conservatives – because they had to cross the initially mostly uncharted Atlantic ocean in tiny, creaky, nasty, wooden ships that most modern Americans wouldn’t cross a farm pond in – have been invading the Americas, showing up uninvited and mostly unwelcome, shoving the Natives aside, killing them, deliberately or accidentally, enslaving them where possible, claiming their land, then importing Africans to use as menial slave labor. This is what got our great nation started. And good “conservatives defend all of this as “American exceptionalism.” Not, “Whoa, we screwed up big time in the past but we have the chance to redeem ourselves in the present.” According to “conservatives,” it’s been all good, all the time, from Columbus announcing that the Natives would make fine slaves right up to the latest black man dying at the hands of sloppy, irresponsible, racist cops.

And you wonder why they support the Donald?

Guerilla Boycotts

“And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.” Revelation 13:1-3.

And the beast called itself GOP and written upon its seven heads are: Avarice, Cowardice, Entitlement, Homophobia, Ignorance, Misogyny, and Racism. And the meek shall cry out in agony. And the beast shall be slain by the Lamb, in their name. And the beast's name shall be erased from the minds of men forever.
